Bottrop Kustom Kulture 2010

As you read I’ve been to Bottrop Kustom Kulture again, but this time for DICKIES.

I visited the Draggers CC & MC in Munich and went up with them to Bottrop. I have to thank these guys for welcoming me and lettin me point my lens everywhere. We had a really great weekend. Wheather was amazing ( nearly to hot :-) ) and the event itself was very relaxed and easy. Also, due to last year’s incidents, there weren’t that certain bad boys lookin for trouble while pretending to do some kind of security job.

It was simply a nice weekend to meet cool people and see a lot of cool stuff.

Pecha Kucha

Some weeks ago a friend asked me if I might wanna present my book at the Pecha Kucha night and talk about it. For all of those of you who don’t know what Pech Kucha is as I didn’t know too:

A while ago some japanese architects invented a presentation event that consists of speaks and presentation that go with a slide show of 20 pictures. Each picture is shown for 20 sec and you only have these 6 min something to speak. The people that speak and present can come from every theme or occupation and can present whatever they want. The mix is what makes it really interesting. And as every presentation only takes about 6 minutes it never get’s boring. It’s a good way to learn about stuff you maybe would never ever get in contact with.

Last time when that friend asked me I just couldn’t do it so I decided to join them for this time. It was the Pecha Kucha special for the DMY design fair that takes place in Berlin these days. Again, because of the big productions for Stetson and Dickies and the fact that my best friend got hit by a car and needs visits in the hospital right now I’m very tight with time so I wasn’t able to prepare before 4pm about what to say at about 8 pm…. I was really f***** excited before. And I was the second to last speaker while it was 30 degrees C in there.

Well listen to it yourself if you like. Let’s say it this way: I know what I will do better next time :-)

Way to Bottrop. Chapter 1

So this is the first day of the DICKIES reportage tour. A documentary project in The photographic style of m book Hopped-Up.
At first the idea was to go to Sweden and go down to Bottrop with my friend in his 1949 pick up. Unfortunately something horrible happened so that this can’t take place. All the very best to him and his family.
The new version is now to meet the Draggers CC& MC in Munich and go up to Bottrop with them.
That’s why I’m in Munich.(thx my friend Tanja for leting me couch surf)
Lookin very much forward to the trip tomorrow and the festival and race on the weekend. Lookin forward to meet a lot of friends and people I met while working ob my book.
Rain stopped so let’s go!

Keith, motor journalist, UK in his blog

“Towards the end of the month it was up to London for a mid-week gallery
opening of cool photograph’s shot by German photographer David Biene.
David
has been shooting cool black and white pics at traditional car e…vents
all over Europe and last year had them published in a book titled
‘Hopped Up’.

The Proud Galleries in Camden liked the book so much
they offered David a couple of weeks display in there exclusive
gallery. It was an interesting evening with a live rockabilly band and a
few friendly faces in attendance from the London area.”

thanks to Keithfor the photo
